Description
Vicodin 5-500 mg is a prescription pain reliever that contains hydrocodone and acetaminophen drugs. Hydrocodone interacts with the opioid receptors in an individual’s brain and blocks pain perception, while acetaminophen promotes the effects of hydrocodone. Vicodin is prescribed by doctors to treat mild to severe pain, including chronic pain. However, it is classified as a Schedule III drug by the Drug Enforcement Administration due to its potential for physical and psychological dependence.
Vicodin Dosage
The recommended dose of Vicodin is 1 to 2 tablets containing 5 mg of hydrocodone and 500 mg of acetaminophen every 4 to 6 hours for adults, with a maximum daily dose of 8 tablets. The step-up dose contains 7.5 mg of hydrocodone and 750 mg of acetaminophen and should not exceed 6 tablets per day. The highest dose contains 10 mg of hydrocodone and 300 mg of acetaminophen, with a maximum limit of 6 tablets per day.
Effects of Vicodin 5-500 mg

Hydrocodone works as a pain reliever and cough suppressant, but it can be habit-forming and increase the risk of addiction when misused or abused. Addiction can begin with a normal prescription and lead to substance use disorder, even when taken as prescribed.

Combining Vicodin with other addictive drugs for recreational purposes can be dangerous and increase the risk of drug overdose.
